The transmitter project

The Radolfzell ornithological station is conducting a research project to study the migration routes of storks more closely. In order to follow the migration routes the storks are equipped with GPS transmitters. These send data on their location, migration and flight behaviour at regular intervals. In 2015, 20 young birds of the Aktion PfalzStorch e.V. were sent as cooperation partners for the first time.  By the end of the project in 2019, a total of 102 Palatinate storks had been transmitted, 18 of which were still alive on 31.12.19. The data collected from the storks will now be evaluated in order to find out about their paths, special whereabouts, causes of death and other interesting findings.
